Program Purpose

The goals of the Clinical and Translational Research Unit (CTRU) are to transform the culture of the former General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) program to reach out to all CT researchers at Stanford, to build bridges with community health care programs, to foster the building of research teams, and to streamline bench-to-bedside-to community-to bench translation. The Clinical and Translational Research Unit offers core nursing and laboratory support to investigators conducting clinical trials. These services are offered at the GCRC facilities, scatter bed sites in the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, and the Clinical Studies Unit of the VAPAHCS. The CTRU also manages the Council of Mentors to provide advice, scientific review, and career guidance to junior faculty involved in CTR.
