Program Purpose

The goal of SCCTER in the area of core resources is to ensure the rapid application of transformative technological discoveries to the creation of core facilities. To improve core access and utilization, we have begun to reorganize existing cores and are creating new core services (initially, human genetics, immune monitoring, and tissue microarray histology) to maximize the ability of investigators to effectively obtain and analyze data from CTR experiments. Other goals include the provision of centralized core technology services, improved education of potential users about available services, the promotion of core usage, and the creation of R&D activities in each core that are separate from their service activities. This will be accomplished by dissemination of information and training, the development of new cores to meet evolving CTR needs, and the establishment of long-term financial support for these services.
