Educational Opportunities
PhD StudentsTraditional PhD predoctoral students receive extensive training and experience with basic or behavioral science, economic or social issues and research methods, but are not deeply exposed to human biology, disease, and medical practice. In an effort to train and advance a cadre of well-trained interdisciplinary investigators, SCCTER will provide opportunities for PhD students to gain interdisciplinary skills, leveraging existing programs. Masters of MedicineThe Masters of Medicine program enable PhD students to become highly knowledgeable about human biology and disease. MOM students take basic biomedical science courses, including anatomy, physiology, genetics, immunology, and pathology, with SoM MD students, while concurrently pursuing their PhD course requirements and laboratory rotations. More » Epidemiology or Health Services ResearchFor those PhD students interested in Epidemiology or Health Services Research, through SCCTER funding, qualified students can pursue a master’s degree in either of these fields. Clinical-Translational Psychology SpecializationFor students interested in learning about scientific methods for studying human behavior and brain in both healthy and clinical populations, in conjunction with the Stanford Psychology Department Graduate Program, SCCTER plans to offer a specialization called Clinical-Translational Psychology. |
