Educational OpportunitiesOverviewThe goal of clinical and translational research and education in SCCTER is to create a fully integrated, University-wide, CTR community that stimulates and educates all levels of trainees interested in investigational careers focused on human health. The continuum of trainees extends from students participating in our high school summer programs to junior faculty such as those supported by NIH Career Development Awards. Trainees along this continuum include the following:
The CTSA will coordinate oversight of our existing programs serving this broad spectrum of trainees and the development of several new advanced degree programs. The figure (below) depicts the various didactic and programmatic elements at each level of the training continuum. SCCTER will support enhanced coordination and oversight of our existing programs serving this spectrum of trainees and the development of several advanced degree programs focused on expanding the pipeline of clinical and translational scientists. Clinical and Translational Research EducationSCCTER aims to serve as a central source of information for tracking and assessing available CTR seminars, courses, and programs. This is currently handled by multiple offices. The best resource at this time is the SPCTRM Education and Training resource (SUNet ID required). Upon NIH funding of the CTSA program, the Education and Training Coordinating Office will be formed to provide oversight and efficient management of the initiatives that are central to our CTR education, training, and career development programs. |
